It has only one name: The Calling.
It's affected us all somehow. It called our friends, our families, our loved ones, maybe it called you too.
It began 3 months ago, January 9th on the night of the new moon. Children, adults, civilians of all ages disappeared like ghosts in the middle of the night. When morning came, many were found lying in abandoned fields, school yards, and other obscure and places with nothing but the sores on their feet and strange black imprints to remind them where they'd been. Only, no one remembered where they'd been, only that they'd been called. Some say 'The Calling' is music, a sound so captivating it draws you to its core. Other's say it is like a snare, it's magnetic pull inescapable. But their stories are all the same in the end. The black insignia begins to burn with a heat that would melt the flesh from your bones. But it doesn't. Just when you think you'll be consumed by the pain, or your mind will shatter beneath its tenacity, it fades away. And those survive it will never be the same again. They call themselves the Gifted, and they are no longer welcome here. |
