The Gifted are those who bear special or supernatural abilities. They are the group of individuals who have been 'called'. Each person bears their own insignia, a black imprint tattooed into their skin. The design is unique to each Gifted and is believed to be the source of some mysterious power. Each new moon, their abilities reach a new peak in power before becoming less potent as the moon cycle continues.
The Reapers, they were once Gifted too. However beneath the heavy burden of the Imprint, their weathered minds gave way and they were lost to insanity. These poor unfortunate souls pose a great threat to their community and are often hunted by Gifted and non-gifted alike. Many Reapers maintain their gifts, though they are unable to assert proper control over them.
The Seekers began as a volunteer Night Watch/Search and Rescue team. Every night they went from door to door, ensuring civilians remained indoors, and keeping a vigilant watch over the town. It was their duty to recover and safely return any missing persons, and do everything they could to discover the source of the 'Calling'. However when an entire Search and Rescue team was brutally murdered by a single Reaper, The Seekers made it their priority to protect MapleRidge and ensure the eviction of every Gifted civilian. Once the heroes of their town, the Seekers have now become the bane of the Gifted. Their unorthodox methods of dealing with Gifted and Reapers alike have given civilians more than enough reason to fear an impending conflict ahead.
The Civilians of Mapleridge have grown uneasy. While the people around them continue to evolve, the mysterious and unknown 'Calling' has driven many Civilians to distrust the Gifted, and distrust each other. These plain and ordinary people can do little against the super humans springing up around them, especially without creating conflict.
