Marshall Legend
Age: 19| | Male || Civilian ||
Sometimes,
I wonder who the real monsters are.
Sometimes,
I wonder who the real monsters are.
Appearance:
Over the past two years, Marshall has earned himself a rather broad and imposing frame. Between the natural supplements and his daily rituals at the gym, this young man has slowly become 140 pounds of pure muscle. Just kidding, but one quick look at his well-defined chiseled features, and it doesn't seem like much of a stretch. At roughly six feet, Marshall finds himself only slightly taller than his male peers. However, his step-mother constantly insists he's still growing.
Despite his tall and broad stature, his feathery golden hair and soft blue eyes give him what his peers call a 'pastor's kid' look. Their claim might also be attributed to Marshall's consistent look of optimism. Luckily, Marshall takes it in stride. Looking 'kind' is the least of his concerns. He most often frequents a black and white striped sports jacket, and dark jeans. He'll wear anything that's relatively easy to remove for the sake of sports.
Marshall's most treasured possession is a golden cross necklace he won't go a day without wearing. It belonged to his first mother who died of cancer when he was thirteen. Since then, Marshall has kept it as polished and new as the day it was made.

Personality:
Don't let his handsome features fool you into thinking his some sort of angel. Marshall isn't quite there yet. While his home circumstances have forced him to set the bar high and uphold good morals angel is pushing it. Prince Charming on the other hand...no that's still pushing it.
Both and artist and a scholar, Marshall's world exists inside his head. As a result, he's often not 'present' in the physical world, but thinking deeply on other matters instead. Just because he's staring very intently in your direction and nodding his head every once in a while, doesn't mean he's heard a word you've said. Coming from an intellectual perspective, Marshall takes a painfully long time to process anything. While others are busy acting on their issues, Marshall is too busy weighing out the pros and cons of each argument, and picking the issue up to look at it from a different perspective. In fact, he often spends so much time thinking on a single matter, he misses his opportunity to act at all. As a result, he comes across as cool and reserved.
Often when he simply doesn't have the time to think, Marshall acts on sheer impulse. Driven purely by emotion, this can have rather dangerous outcomes.
When it comes to conversing with others, Marshall is very much the same. In his head, he might have said a million things, but only utter one or two. He often speaks only when he's spoken to, preferring to spend the rest of his time thinking through the conversation rather than participating in it.
Amongst his family, Marshall tends to be quite different. Having spent most of his adolescence raising his younger brothers, he has a tendency to be a little feminine. He has an eye for detail, an often grows quite enthusiastic or fond of things his brother's complain aren't 'manly'. However around the house, Marshall's masculinity isn't much of a concern. His kind, helpful and caring nature just come naturally to him. Besides, with all those years of being 'mom' under his belt, he can rock a pink apron like none other.
Around his peers, Marshall is very much the same. A very kind and genuine spirit, his only difference is his competitive nature. Marshall will accept any bet and compete for almost anything. Due to his love for competition, he has the potential to do a number of reckless things. He once accepted a competition from his friend to see who could jump from the highest story of a building. Their only rule was they couldn't break any bones. Fortunately for Marshall, his friend didn't feel like jumping ten stories that night and chickened out before they could both commit the worst and possibly last mistake of their lives.

History:
Your typical teenaged guy, Marshall doesn't even remember most of his childhood. Okay, maybe that's not so typical. Aside from a few sleepwalking incidents and mini child-crisises, life was good. There was nothing terrible to remember, and all the good memories were kept in photo books and home videos. But when Marshall was thirteen, his mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She died six months later. For the Legend family, it was by far one of the hardest things they'd been through. Marshall's dad did absolutely everything he could to maintain the close, warm family environment in his wife's absence, but it just wasn't the same. After his mother died, Marshall's family didn't talk as much as they used to. And after a while, it seemed like they stopped talking altogether. It was always just silent.
While his father worked two jobs just to pay the bills and put his children through private school, Marshall felt a lot of pressure to help raise his four younger brothers. Quite unintentionally, Marshall adopted the 'motherly' role within the family. He washed the dishes, cooked the meals, cleaned the house, did the laundry, everything his mother used to do. Carter, his youngest brother confirmed Marshall's greatest fear when he mentioned that he couldn't even remember their mother. Whenever he thought of his mom, his older brother came to mind. It was always Marshall. Marshall cleaning up after them, Marshall lecturing them for being reckless, Marshall taking care of them. While his adolescent parenting was a huge help to his father, Marshall always felt as though he were betraying his mother. As if by doing all the things she'd used to do he was trying to erase her.
When Marshall entered tenth grade, his father began dating his homeroom teacher. With all their after school meetings, Marshall was convinced he was doing something wrong at school. However when his father later introduced her to his family, Marshall couldn't have been more relieved. His new step-mom brought the life back to their family, her competitive nature spurring Marshall do participate more actively in his own life and not just the lives of others.
After the calling, Marshall's life began to change drastically. No, he wasn't called and nor were any of his family. But given his tendency to sleep walk, his parents became increasingly worried and overprotective of him. Despite having a step-mom, he was still in many ways 'mom' to his younger siblings, and had played a crucial role in rebuilding their family. If he wasn't so dismissive of himself he might come to the conclusion everyone was worried their family would fall apart without him. Confined to the house with a strict curfew and brooding parents, Marshall never was called. However when his best friend Andre disappeared, Marshall joined the Seekers.
At the time, the Seekers' only purpose was to protect the city and recover missing people. For the next two months, Marshall served with them, right up until one of their night patrols was attacked by a reaper. Tensions were already rising with the appearance of the insane gifted and Marshall's coordinator didn't think twice about shooting the creature in the head. It wasn't the first time he'd witnessed death, but afterwards, Marshall wasn't quite the same around his peers. He began to notice the small things. A dark, sinister hunger that was clouding over their good intent of the Seekers. When a Seeker patrol stumbled across Andre, Marshall discovered his friend had become a Reaper. He put everything including his life on the line to ensure his friend could be brought to the Correctional Facility immediately. When the incident was at last resolved Marshall quit the Seekers. Since then, he's spent a majority his time visiting Andre in the correctional facility, and serving his community in the Church's soup kitchen.

Abilities:
Does full contact underwater origami count as an ability? Just kidding, as far as supernatural abilities go, Marshall has a total of zero. He's just a plain ordinary guy. A plain, super strong ordinary guy. A plain, super strong, ordinary guy, who has a really nice bod. Okay, so neither of those are worthy of being supernatural abilities.
In all seriousness, Marshall has very few talents or skills he could highlight for himself. Since middle school, he has been an aspiring comic book artist. He prides himself on being able to draw very well and compiling his own comic books from time to time. His competitive nature and general physical give him an advantage in most sports and strenuous activities.
